Bedford County Emergency Management Agency (EMA)

To participate in the planning and coordination of county emergency/disaster preparation, mitigation, response and recovery. Duties and responsibilities include performing the role of Assistant Director in his/her absence, training employees and volunteers, establishing and evaluating response to emergencies, acting as liaison with officials and the public, preparing reports and maintaining records, and performing other functions as appropriate. Reports to Director (or temporarily to the Assistant Director during the Director's absence).





Office of Planning & Zoning

Reviews and approves plans and inspects construction of new and existing buildings and dwellings to ensure compliance with the adopted building and zoning codes for Bedford County government and other regulatory requirements related to land improvements. Performs related duties as required.





Bedford County EMS

The paramedic is expected to provide courteous medical care for all type of patients with unlimited diseases, injuries, and personalities. The difficult physical demands include: heavy lifting, crawling, kneeling, and walking long distances. Paramedics operate in a range of environments from the back of an ambulance to rough terrain and in all types of weather. All patient care must adhere to the standards set forth by the State of Tennessee and Bedford County EMS. The paramedic may be assigned other specific administrative duties or tasks as needed.

Bedford County Sheriff's Office

The Officer is responsible for overseeing state and county inmates. This involves working with inmates in the jail and various assigned duties.

Bedford County Fire Department

The primary function of a Bedford County Firefighter is to protect the community from disaster situations, including house and building fires, and promote an environment of public safety within Bedford County Fire Department’s response area. This position also participates in fire prevention and inspection activities, equipment and quarters maintenance, and training dealing with all phases of fire suppression, prevention, inspection, rescue and emergency operation. An employee in this classification performs the duties of other employees in the Bedford County Fire Department when so assigned





Bedford County Animal Control

Animal Control Officers are responsible for performing a variety of job functions related to animal care and control, including but not limited to field services, shelter operations, and office/ clerical work. Animal Control Officers are responsible for providing general animal care for shelter animals, responding to calls for service in the field, and enforcing State laws and County regulations pertaining to companion animals. Animal Control Officers must handle all animals in a humane manner at all times.
